It was dark, the moon was full and all was in silence. The sound of someone walking in step with her made Jane hesitate and stop. the other footfalls stopped too. As Jane began to move again, and this time with more hast, she heard the other footsteps echo her own. Her heart began to beat faster and her pulse raced. She was in an open piece of ground, no one else was to be seen and she was afraid to turn round to look at who was pacing her. A firm hand touched her shoulder. She collapsed and entered oblivion
